Are you stuck in a learning loop, believing one more class, course, or seminar will finally be the answer? I was suffering from the same thing. I had read all the books and followed all the enlightened teachers, but to no avail—freedom was still out of reach.

I knew what the problem was: my subconscious was holding me prisoner. I tried every method, but nothing worked. The paradigm was fixed, and like the lock on a jail door, it felt impossible to break free.

I received the same message from many teachers: “Until you give up effort, you will never get there.” But a part of me resisted, thinking, “I will never make it if I let go! How will I pay my bills, handle my responsibilities, and survive?” I thought I had already surrendered, but I couldn’t see that I was still trying to control the process by deciding what was safe and what I could handle. I was stuck.

Then, like magic, a breakthrough opportunity appeared. “Surrender,” a voice said.

“What do you mean? I am!” I replied.

“Really?” the voice challenged.

I went on YouTube and searched, “What is surrender?” A short video mentioned one of my teachers, Michael A. Singer. I thought, “But I have his books.” However, there was one I hadn’t seen: The Surrender Experiment. My initial reaction was, “No, no more books.” But as they say, when the student is ready, the teacher appears. My heart kept telling me to buy the audiobook, and I am so glad I listened. As I heard the book, tears rolled down my face. The funny thing is, pain never made me cry—I was used to it. Was this love?

I knew an acquaintance, Eliezer, had been to the Temple of the Universe, Michael’s center. We hadn’t seen each other in about a year, so I reached out the “safe” way—by text. This started a new conversation, and he seemed different from the last time I’d seen him. He was already clean and back home with his wife and children.

I had a work trip planned to a seven-acre property I was brokering near the Homosassa River, which was less than two hours from the Temple. It turned out Michael was speaking there that night. I asked Eliezer, “Would you be interested in going with me?” I really wanted to go and express my appreciation for the book, as I could already feel a change in myself, even though my situation hadn’t improved yet. He said he would ask his wife and kids. I thought to myself, “Really? Who is this new person?”

We listened to the audiobook on the five-hour ride home. As we talked over the next few days, I saw a new version of Eliezer and was very impressed. I realized that I was the one judging based on the past and not truly trusting—which wasn’t surrender at all. One day, I asked him if I could learn this “MTT stuff,” because it seemed to have worked like magic for him.

I didn’t realize that I would be in a three-day training class that very weekend. Be careful what you ask for! It was the missing piece of the puzzle for me. I discovered I was stuck because of a “vanishing twin,” and suddenly, all the work I had done over the past 35 years fell into place, like a lightbulb turning on. Now, I am here.

Now, I’m starting the next chapter: helping others find their freedom. I have a website with some of my learning materials. It’s a bit messy, and I plan to clean it up, but my work is there for you.
